Topp Twins
7 January 2005
SAC's Annual FREE Outdoor Event!
Presented in conjuction with the Hobart Summer Festival.
You’ve seen them on telly in their own late night show on the ABC and in The Shed with Crowded House’s Paul Hester but this was the first time the girls from the islands to the east brought their extraordinary comedy and musical talents to Tasmania. Their skills extend to ‘the spoons’ and yodelling. ”Yodelling is a dying art. Not a lot of people are doing it, but a lot have died in the attempt,” says Topp Twin singer and yodeller, Lynda.
The Topp Twins, described by the Glasgow Herald as New Zealand’s finest export since lamb cutlets, invaded Salamanca Place to follow the outdoors spectaculars previously presented by Salamanca Arts Centre including Electronic Big Top 2, Texacali Rose and the Mary G Show.
The Topp Twins were supported by Hobart singer songwriter Dwayne Everettsmith and The Red Hot Roosters.
The Topp Twins enjoy a huge following in their native New Zealand with a legion of fans in Australia, Canada, USA and Britain with their special form of entertainment that combines country, comedy and politics.
