reform

reform is an intimate sonic and visual journey which unfolds as audiences make their way on foot along Salamanca Place. reform casts a humorous and cynical eye over the politics of public safety and the rules we live by, presenting a not too fictional Orwellian vision of the future where our every move is monitored for political correctness.

Full Description:
reform is a unique interactive performance combined with radio narrowcast for a small audience to take on-foot in the city streets. tuning in via portable fm radios and headsets, audiences are invited to follow pvi’s elite anti-social behaviour taskforce, ‘the loyal citizens underground’ as they attempt to become model citizens for the evening.

a radical vision of community watch gone awry, the loyal citizen’s underground (l.c.u.) will patrol Hobart’s Salamanca Place, taking the moral high ground to see who else is willing and able to reform. equipped with wireless microphones, cb radios, code of conduct cards and an overzealous enthusiasm for current legislation, laws and social standards, the l.c.u. discover a ripe underbelly of civil disobedience amongst unwitting night-
clubbers, tourists and restaurant goers.
