The Tasmanian Writers' Centre maintains the vision of a vibrant, robust writing and literary culture in Tasmania that is both locally valued and universally recognised. 

The Tasmanian Writers' Centre is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association and is assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Premier, Minister for the Arts, and by the Australia Council, the Federal Government's peak arts funding and advisory body.  The Tasmanian Writers' Centre supports numerous initiatives that promote Tasmanians’ appreciation of literature, including presentation of the Tasmanian Readers' & Writers' Festival.  Members of the TWC enjoy many benefits including subscription to Island Magazine for only $24 - that is a saving of $13 off the normal subscription rate.  The core business of the Tasmanian Writers' Centre is the establishment of a range of services that meet the needs of writers at significant points in their careers. The TWC also aims to promote Tasmanian writing to local, interstate and international audiences.
