Weld Echo 2011
Exhibition in Long Gallery
Presented by Black Sassy Collective - Huon Valley Environment Centre
The forest comes to the city with this collaborative exhibition that explores the incredible beauty of Tasmania's Southern Forests, and the plight to save them from industrial forestry practices. Curated by the Black Sassy Collective, the artistic arm of the Huon Valley Environment Centre, the exhibition is a collective community response towards the destruction of ancient ecosystems in the State of Tasmania and is an incredibly heartfelt, beautiful and sometimes confronting experience. Thousands of people have viewed the exhibition in previous years, with up to 70 emerging and high profile artists exhibiting their works. There is an eclectic mix of styles and mediums including photography, painting, sculpture, multimedia, projections, jewellery, and textiles, and in its sixth year of operation, Weld Echo 2011 is set to be another incredible community event.
