Adrian Bradbury‘s visceral paintings
of dawn and dusk over the Tasman Sea.
This small suite of paintings is a continuation of Adrian’s last body of work First Light.
“It continues my fascination with the dawn light over the Tasman Sea. The subtle gradations of light to dark, and contrast between night and day that can be experienced before the sun rises.”
– Adrian Bradbury
In an attempt to make interesting, visceral paintings of high intensity, Adrian has focused on a strong contrast between lights and darks, and has worked quickly applying oil paint in thick, broad gestures.
There is a shift in these paintings towards a deeper and more physical engagement with the material qualities of paint, and the works are an almost tactile experience for the viewer.
