Interposition is a solo exhibition by emerging artist Lucy Parakhina, exploring the architecture of the site, and the nature of photographic representation.
Photographs of the gallery are first manipulated to draw attention to the relationships between the architectural features of the room, and then used to design a three-dimensional structure that responds to the gallery space directly. By extending compositional lines and highlighting the constructed nature of the visual experience of the gallery space, the work reminds the viewer of the design decisions inherent to any built environment.
