dis-covery

Friday 25 March – Sunday 1 May 2011

Long Gallery & Sidespace Gallery

SAC 2011 Annual Commissioned Curated Major Exhibition

dis-covery is an exhibition that broaches three ideas: island life, artistic romanticism and romantic ideas of islands and island culture. Curator Colin Langridge has selected artists whose works reveal aspects of islands and island culture and that provide a critique of romantic notions of the island.

The artists all have lived on islands and have made artworks that reveal how they have experienced something beyond the brief island experience of the tourist or visitor. The exhibition will present both new and existing artworks.
