Peacock Theatre

Part of Festival of Voices 2013

Rowan Smith performs at Handmade at the Peacock Theatre:

Sirens is a lyrical and musical journey through longing, light and love. Over nine settings, Sirens is a journey of both the voyeur and the voyager. Through a series of song poems, a husband watches his wife dress,  a traveller drinks to the young in Greenwich Village, a parent aches at dawn, a kitchen is observed after the morning rush, a heart begins to open, sketches are made for the empty page.

Sirens is an exquisite composition written by internationally acclaimed songwriter Rowan Smith who for 18 years had made his home in Tasmania. Special guest star vocalist is Philippa Nihill from the Underground Lovers.

“…Smith has idiosyncrasies in his writing that makes him constantly interesting.”  ROLLING STONE

“…something quite special all it’s own.”  THE AGE
