Aided by the data-gathering capabilities of the CSIRO, audio-visual artist Robin Fox transforms the wave motions of the Southern Ocean into sound and light, creating a multi-screen, multi-channel work.

Fox uses data collected by moored buoys and cyber submarines called ‘Argos.’ Waves moving through the southern ocean are slow and the wavelengths (from peak to peak of successive waves) inaudible to humans. But by taking the wave shape and condensing the time factor, Fox brings these waves to within audible ranges and makes sounds based upon the fluctuations.
