[Hybrid Performance Program]

Salamanca Arts Centre supports the development of new Tasmanian performance.

APPLY TO HyPe 2015

HyPe is an initiative of Salamanca Arts Centre (SAC), supporting the creation of innovative, contemporary hybrid performance in Tasmania. HyPe is funded by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and by Hobart City Council and Arts Tasmania.

Through HyPe, Salamanca Arts Centre supports artistic endeavors that take risks and employ multiple performance languages including dance, live art, visual arts, music, sound art and physical theatre.

SAC aims to enable Tasmanian artists to take conceptual leaps, and to challenge and transform the existing boundaries of traditional performance and theatre-making. SAC invests in ideas and small scale or project-based companies and individual artists capable of creating ambitious new works that will contribute to the growth of Australian contemporary performance.

The HyPe Program strives to enable work in which artists explore the live experience of artistic processes, pushing conventions of theatre, performance art and site-specific work. We also support artists and work that engages local communities and diverse audiences to develop, create and participate in the live event.

All proposals to HyPe are assessed according to the following Selection Criteria:
