A Day in the Death of Joe Egg

Presented by St Mary’s College.

‘She’s only one kind of cripple.’

A Day in the Death of Joe Egg is a 1967 play by English playwright Peter Nichols. The play focusses Bri and Sheila who are struggling to save their marriage whilst trying to raise their only child, a small girl with cerebral palsy. Friends, Freddie and Pam, and Bri’s mother, Grace, all have something to say about the upbringing of Josephine.  This savagely exaggerated piece uses comedy, dance and imitations interspersed with serious moments to show life with Joe Egg.
