Irish Australian artist Áine Tyrrell has taken yet another powerful and creative leap
with her latest release, new EP Fledgling Fall.
Fledgling Fall is out now through Brisbane label Sugarrush Music and still captures elements of her traditional folk roots. But this striking group of songs captures a new confidence as she finds a new creative voice and a whole new palette of sounds. It is also a record where Áine has taken collaboration to new levels – this time working with renowned Irish songwriter Glen Hansard whom she met on his 2016 Australian tour.
“My musical family flew in from all corners of the world to see what they could add to our three days of work. The songs flew back and forth from Australia to Ireland to America and each time I was in awe of the hands that came into help this little EP hatch into the best damn thing it could be. The only thing that interrupted our recordings were the birds. Chickens, magpies, and all the other birds of the forest came and checked in every now and then to see what we were up to. We decided on a name of Fledgling Fall for the body of work as this piece of work represents the idea of what comes next after the hatching of my first album. And the spirit of this recording just seems to have grown its own wings just like a fledging would.” – Áine Tyrrell.
The release of Fledgling Fall comes as Áine not only works on her sophomore album, but embarks on her first European and Irish tour in six years. Australian audiences will get the chance to experience the new songs live with a major national tour throughout September/October and November 2017 including major festivals Mullum Music Festival and CullyFest and supporting some of her fellow Irish songwriters Wallis Bird and Declan O’Rourke.
