Tom Hart and Leela Corman are the authors of internationally acclaimed graphic novels. At events in Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney they will showcase their work in a live comics reading and an author Q&A.
In 2011, Tom Hart and Leela Corman suffered an unthinkable tragedy – the sudden, inexplicable death of their two-year-old daughter Rosalie. Both Tom and Leela have produced award-winning graphic novels and short stories and since the death of their daughter they have turned their visual storytelling talents to a chronicle of the tragedy. Last month Hart published a memoir about his lost daughter Rosalie Lightning (St Martin’s Press, September 2015) and Corman has produced shorter works of graphic fiction on the same issue.
Hart and Corman will be in Australia this November to lead Australia’s first-ever residency for graphic storytellers.
The Comic Art Workshop is a 14 day project development seminar held on remote Maria Island off the east coast of Tasmania.
Pages from a collaborative sketchbook made during the residency by our guests and participants will be exhibited at Salamanca Arts Centre, in the hallway on Level 1 leading to the Tasmanian Writer’s Centre until the Tuesday 15 December 2015.
