A hot club tribute to the early-career music of
Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli
from 1934 – 1940.
Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli were two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century. The musical style of the Hot Club of France defined a genre and was the soundtrack of Europe’s emerging string jazz scene for decades.
Hobart based gypsy jazz musicians Harry Edwards (lead guitar) and Charlie McCarthy (violin) will perform two 45 minute sets of Hot Club of France favourites, with a focus on repertoire from 1934 – 1940. Expect classics such as Minor Swing, Dinah and Nuages. Harry and Charlie will be joined by Felicity Lovett (rhythm guitar), and Isaac Gee (double bass), for a fun night of swinging hot gypsy jazz.
