Dole / Dolour: An Allegory for the Fifth Corner of the world is a collection of images by artist Liam James. The work grapples with the subjects of youth, employment, states of sorrow and distress as well as the search for a new national identity.
The work is responsive to James’ time in Europe where he undertook the Rosamond McCulloch residency at the Cite International, Paris. The exhibition melds Classicism with Contemporary, the work constantly struggles and suggests reference to the past, in a hope to make sense of the present
