forma – exploring and capturing the essence
of the Tasmanian wilderness
through abstract shapes by Melanie Roach.

forma examines the relationship between nature and modern society using organic shapes, gestural marks, layering and a colour palette drawn from the wild.

Themes of responsibility, desire, ancestry, technology and escapism are threaded into each piece.

Created during time spent in the Tasmanian wilderness, each piece bears the texture and shape of sea, land, sky or mountain. Works convey the energy and pull of the natural environment, whilst remaining aware of the everyday responsibilities of urban life. Forma is a journey into the soul-enriching arms of the Tasmanian wilderness.
