Originally from Melbourne, SAC Resident Artist Katherine Perrott recently moved to Tasmania. She works in oils on canvas and linen.
“Through the making of art, my own personal relationship with the world is explored. The magic of nature offers both lyrical beauty and unpredictable powerful force. In my recent body of work, I have explored the diverse environment of Kunyani / Mount Wellington and the ongoing and endearing relationship walkers, inhabitants and recreational users have with the mountain. My paintings attempt to evoke a feeling of tenderness, and a love for nature that for some of us is an intrinsic part of our lives. The paintings are an honouring to the magnificence of the mountain, it’s ancient trees, ferny glades, its breathtaking views, and mist filled valleys.”
