Images of Tasmania 24

Presented by Images of Tasmania

An evolving annual exhibition of around 45 Tasmanian artists, with links to the UTAS School of Creative Arts in its various incarnations, where artists present engaging mini exhibitions in a wide variety of media and approaches.

Images of Tasmania is a thriving, co-operative venture with its roots in Tasmanian tertiary art training. It presents a snapshot of current Tasmanian art practice encouraging gallery patrons to appreciate works in a variety of two and three–dimensional media encompassing literal, symbolic, decorative and conceptual approaches. In its broadest sense this mirrors the definition of ’Images’.

The disciplines of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital imagery, sculpture, furniture design, ceramics, glass, and jewellery are represented. Exhibitors contribute to the diversity of the exhibition through the presentation of new & quality work whilst demonstrating an ongoing commitment to developing their practice and professional training.

The exhibition is entirely self-funded – without recourse to external sponsorship or advertising – and participating artists take on various roles in the setting-up, promotion and overall management of the exhibition. The expertise, experience and participation of preceding generations of Tasmanian School of Art graduates and associates provide continuity and stability for the enterprise. “Images” flourishes today because it is annually refreshed and infused with ‘new blood’ drawn mainly from the gene pool of recent Art School graduates and post-graduates.
