Acting Workshop for Young Performers
Want to go on a crazy fun theatrical adventure from a different time?
If you are aged 12-15 years and theatre is your thing, you should definitely come along. Ben Winspear, acclaimed actor and director will head up the crew in this crisp and cheeky adaption of the Monkey myth, by local playwrite and Big Monkey founders Les Winspear.
Based on tales set in 630AD, this 6 day workshop will recount the adventures and exploits of the resourceful Monkey (the hero) as he escorts Tang Priest Tripitaka, pig monster Pigsy and the water monster Sandy, on their perilous mission to retrieve Buddhist scriptures.
In the October holidays, theses tales are coming to Hobart, demons and all, for a 6 day bespoke acting workshop for young performers aged 12-15 in the Peacock Theatre at Salamanca Arts Centre.

Ben Winspear has directed numerous productions for Sydney Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre, and NIDA, and will head up the team of adventurers in this crisp and cheeky adaptation of the Monkey myth, by local playwright and Big Monkey founder Les Winspear. Over one week a small group will read and rehearse scenes from the play, finishing with an intimate invite-only showing.
