Create a work that speaks to you
on a very personal level.
In this workshop you will lay onto canvas (or wood if you prefer) confident layers with form and colour in abstract style with total confidence and strength, and you’ll lose that fear of criticism. Artist Kate McCarthy will guide you through the intuitive process of letting out what you want to see in front of you in free-form. You’ll have breakthroughs and will be able to commit to colour and marks with confidence, thereby creating a work in a short amount of time. The joyous process is important and is what the workshops will concentrate on.
I paint and create in reaction to the chaos of life around me, I will sometimes do stripe after stripe or dot after dot, enjoying the calm, methodical stillness of silent, bright paint coming alive in front of me, not caring about the end product or who is waiting to judge the outcome.
It is liberating and will be reflected in your resultant work. It’s the magic ingredient
of good work – the artist’s presence.
