learn Parai drums and play with rhythm
and parai aattam – the parai dance
Parai are considered to be a symbol of Tamil culture and the use of these drums dates back to prehistoric times.
Lead by renowned musician, Sanathana Gopala Krishnan and some other members of the Tamil Association of Tasmania, you will learn about the various historic uses of the drum, rhythmic patterns and parai aattam – the parai dance.
What to bring:
Drink bottle and wear comfortable clothing.
For all ages 5+
Young people MUST be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session.

Santhana Gopala Krishnan
Santhana comes from a long line of established and renowned musicians and hails from Tamil Nadu. He has performed widely throughout Tasmania and internationally.
The Tamil Association of Tasmania is supported by the Hobart City Council.
