Images and footage by Peter Marmion and Mick Lawrence, song and stories of the Southwest by Greg Wells and the Black Water Band accompanied by special guest musicians John Coleman, Kinny Langford, and Naarah.
Greg Wells has been a guide, carer, and activist for the Southwest of Tasmania for over 25 years. Through an inspiring collection of 13 songs, relive the history of the Southwest wilderness; from early tellings of the Needwonee people, to the settlement of the Davey Piners, right through to the modern day stories that Greg has personally lived and encountered.
Artistic movement unfolds to the story of Mathinna, and ‘No Pakata’ which tells the hardships and resilience of the Needeonee People. Southwest pioneers Peter Marmion and Mick Lawrence display captivating images and footage of the wilderness projected around the Peacock Theatre.
Tannin stained lakes and tarns, high mountain tops, rugged coastlines, and a deep history spanning thousands of years – Songs of the Southwest.
