The mixed media paintings of emerging artist Alison Dower reflect the world around her,
and the collision of the personal and the political in daily life.
“My work is a response to the world and time in which I live. I interweave images of routines and rituals of daily living from the sanctuary of my home, together with my reaction to the unpredictable global current affairs reported by the news. Through paint and mixed media, I fabricate open-ended narratives demoting the original gravity of the news item but use its currency to fuel an alternate storyline. This fusion creates a tension that I see as two worlds colliding.
