The exhibition Viv Colours Den Black is the first combined exhibition by husband and wife team, Dennis and Vivienne Crawford, both of whom currently exhibit work in the Artefacts Gallery located on the ground floor of Salamanca Arts Centre.
Viv has been painting watercolours for 15 years and loves to paint cottages and street scenes as well as boats and their reflections. In more recent times she has turned her paintbrush to painting birds, and discovered another passion.
She is a member of the Australian Society of Marine Artists and also a member of the Art Society of Tasmania Inc. and exhibits her works in various exhibitions.
In all of her paintings Viv tries to include an element of good drawing, because that, in her opinion, is the basis of a good painting. Living in beautiful Tasmania, surrounded by so many views of boats, lovely old buildings, cottage gardens with abundant bird life, and the docks, with a wonderful array of ever changing fishing boats, her next painting is never far away.
Dennis produces artistic ink pen effect renderings of digital photographs. Many of these focus on the historical buildings and surrounds of hobart but also included in the exhibition are photographs taken in Europe, England, Ireland and New York.
