I am a visual art practitioner based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. I have a strong interest in portraiture and historic costume which has become the focus of my art practice.
Belinda graduated with a BFA (Hons) from the University of Tasmania in 2018 and presented a solo exhibition entitled Walking Shadows: Bal Maidens & Brisons Veor at the Top Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre, in February 2021, based upon an artist’s residency undertaken in Cornwall, United Kingdom in 2019. This project explored the traces of the Cornish Bal (mine) Maidens upon the Cornish landscape through drawings of their bonnets and shoes upon rock rubbings on canvas.
Belinda is a proud palawa woman originating from the North West Coast of Tasmania. She is currently developing a series of paintings responding to an artist’s residency undertaken at indigenous owned property, Murrayfield Station, on Bruny Island in August 2021, which explores her aboriginal heritage, culture and connection to country.
